One of the future steps toward breaking the interweb is the embracing of faster connections, and to help out with that we have the 10Gb standard. Showing off some of its advancements in the 10GbE area, Intel has had a 10GBASE-T add-on card on display at the Embedded Systems Conference. As seen below, the Intel PRO/10GbE not only uses a PCI-Express interface but it also comes equipped with active cooling.
The prototype card features both 1Gb and 10Gb connectivity and is expected to start selling some time this year. Maybe Intel will reconsider using a fan with the card before it ships though.
