Currently gearing up to deliver 128GB SSDs this summer, Toshiba is planning to quadruple that number next year. The company is predicting a steady growth for SSDs in the mobile market and this, coupled with declining priced per flashy gigabyte and technology enhancements, will enable it to deliver 512GB drives before the end of 2009.

Toshiba is expecting to start shipping 256GB 2.5-inch SSDs before January 1st, 2009 as it moves towards 43nm production while next year, the sub-40nm technologies are set to make the 512GB a reality.
